Here is a bit of a update from XoticPC:
The new Sager NP9280 is ready to ship early next week with the Intel Core i7 920.
Many customers have ordered with the Intel Core i7 940 & Core i7 965 XE. Sager is planning to support future Intel® Core™ i7 processors in LGA-1366 package that will be released soon. The new SKU’s will be a better value to customers that have ordered with Core i7 940 & Core i7 965 XE.
Sager plans to hold customer orders of the Core i7 940 & Core i7 965 XE and ship these orders with future Intel® Core™ i7 processors in LGA-1366 package at no extra cost to the customers.
My Response:
All Core i7 Nehalem Bloomfield cores are LGA-1366. So the above update doesn't make any sense to me. Can anyone shed some light on their update?
It would have made more sense to me if it had said, "... future Intel® Core™ i7 32nm Westmere based processors code-named Gulftown."
(But, this still wouldn't explain the delay)
The reason I say this is that Intel is already dumping Bloomfield 45nm in favor of Westmere 32nm. And,
This new 32nm processor will have six cores, a 12MB L3 Cache, and share the same X58 chipset and 1366-pin socket.
It's only downfall: Being an enthusiast-class, high-performance part, Gulftown processors won't have an integrated graphics core, instead requiring a dedicated graphics card to power their display output.
That's because it is only a stepping stone to:
Lynfield; I'll have to add more later as the wife wants to go to breakfast and I have to jump in the shower. ;\
anyway, who knows, what will happen will happen
