Slow Network Load at Startup

I just purchased an Asus Eee PC 900 and upgraded to 2GB of RAM. Thanks to the numerous tips and tweaks found on these forums, I’ve been able to drastically speed up the netbook. However, I’ve noticed that my network takes at least 1-2 minutes after startup to load on the tray and create a connection. I don’t think this is normal. With 2GB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space, I can’t think of what the issue might be. Considering the issue is after everything has loaded, I don’t think anything is holding it up. From a couple of searches, it might be IE8. Has anyone noticed this issue after installing IE8 and will downgrading to IE7 mediate the problem?

Yeh it shouldn't take that much time at all to boot. Try rolling back IE and see if it works.

Check and review your firewall and antivirus as well,
