Hi, I was wondering, lot of ppl in notebook review forum say that the np 9280 cannot be sli because it lack the space for a second card. is that true? in pc torque it say sli compatible for it. If so, how much will a second graphic card would cost? thanks

I have asked the same question...

They told me it maybe a future upgrade but not a option for now. And yes it needs to be taken off the sellers websites to stop all the confusion...Or, at least say it maybe a future option instead of an option. In which i hope it is a future option...Because i'm for sure gonna buy will one too

In past Sager models, they've made space to allow for SLi.

I'm guessing sometime in the future you'll see a 9282 model with Sli.

Clevo, which manufactures the 9280 (D900F) explicitly states on its website that the model has SLI Technology so it must be available some time in the future. Check it out:

Ya I seen the same thing on Clevo's site and, someone brought that up(threw a stick in a hornets nest) in a conversation about the Sli config on the 9280 on another board...The only thing the guys said to their defence is it must be a typos...

Like I said before, I hope this is a upgrade in the future and I hope that it don't involve a crazy price...because if there is SLI capablities in the future, there won't be a notebook, or "desktop" for that matter, touch it in gaming performance or anything else for the time being...

well, maybe portability

it's sad that this laptop has so much potential except for its Achilles's heel...no dual GTX 280M sli...therefore a single GTX 280M is weak and mediocre for gaming. i heard it only cranks out 16fps 1680x1050 @ HIGH setting. So forget VERY HIGH & AA. This is no gaming laptop, more like a multimedia creation laptop with its i7 greatness.

i wish this laptop support the mighty ATI 4870 x2 mobility GPU. Even Asus W90 $2200 Intel Q9000 & 4870 x2 is a better laptop

I understand that it would be so much better if it was SLI...But the all mighty 4870x2 is not beating the so called weak single GTX 280 card by much(on paper). seeing the difference on paper is one thing, seeing it in gaming is another...Most games don't even utilize SLI technology and use only one card in which i would have to say "BYE BYE all MIGHTY 4870's"!!!(personal opinion of course)

right

well, this is your personal opinion.
what are you talking about most games don't support sli/crossfire. Are you insane?
go to anandtech or xbitlabs website.
adding another card will increase 1.5-2x the performance in 95% of the games.

GTX280M is no way near as good as its desktop GTX 280. GTX 280M only crank out 16fps in crysis at 1680x1050 on HIGH. ATI 4870 x2 on the other hand produces 34fps at 1920x1200. ATI is 3x faster in crysis than GTX 280M. It would be that much better in other games too.

And that is your personal opinion...Go buy your 4870's ati cards then...It takes 2 to beat one....Thats the point

it's all in fun till name calling comes about...Settle down...I never said anything bad about you, just having a little discussion about graphic cards...And no i'm not a fan boy" it's the first nvidia card i have ever owned, Matter of fact my laptop now has ATI in it, and it's a good graphics card...If you can't say nothing nice don't say nothing at all...BYE BYE

awesome reviews of the Asus W90 with ATI 4870 x2 mobility.
I have to say ATI did a great job.

So someone is lying

It's not capable of SLI...That is no lie

But, they have the NP9850 right around the corner that will offer it.

(my opinion)that they never changed the text from when the NP9262 was originally on that page...

So, you can say it's a misprint...

Sli or not it's still will play every game with ease out there now and (i'm hoping) a couple years in the future...And crunch some massive numbers with the i7's

Np9280 w/the i7 975 and the GTX 280m is scoring around 14k to 15k(with a good set-up)on 3dmark 06...These numbers were ran by a tech on another forum board...He don't have all the numbers up yet but he gave us a little peek at what he ran.

Hope this helps.

I doubt sli is going to be an option. They probably didn't bother to update the marketing language from the d901.
