Downgrading from Vista to XP on a Satellite L305D

Thread Starter
I searched everywhere to find out how to install Windows XP on my Toshiba Satellite L305D - S5928 but soon ran into a problem, during the XP installation I kept getting an error that when i searched it turned out to be that their are no drivers for the on-board SATA controller. Well hear is my problem on a newer Compaq i had to use Nlite to add some SATA drivers to the installation disk, due to their not being a floppy drive. So i deasperatley searched for the drivers for my onboard SATA controller. I searched everything in google and in yahoo. Then when i tried to use the system restore that Toshiba put on the computer i fond in the BIOS under the Advanced tab "SATA Controller Mode: AHCI". This caught my eye. so i selected it from the list and hit enter and then it showed "Compatibility or AHCI". i selected Compatibility mode from the list and then tried to install XP on my computer and it worked. I know that some one is trying to do the same thing so i am going to wright out the instructions to relieve the stress that some of you may be going thruough. So heare:
1. Boot up the computer before the installation of windows XP get into the BIOS by pressing F2
2. click on the Advanced tab
3. the go to the very bottem where it says SATA Controller Mode and hit enter
4. Select Compatibility
5. Select Boot tab from the BIOS screen
6. Make shure that the CD-Rom drive is selected first
7. hit F10 enter to save changes
8. When the computer starts up hit any key to boot form the CD
9. after going thruogh the text based setup and the computer is going to restart you must go back into the BIOS and set up the HDD to be the first boot device
10. Hit F10 to save
Their you go!!! your installation will now work!!

I Hope that this will help you, I wish that someone would do this for me. (Cuz this would have helped)
