Hey all!

First time on forum.

This forum has been very helpful and informative, I was torn between Sager and Alienware. 2 weeks ago i order from AW, finance so it took some time for me to get moving thru phases, but im stuck now on phase 3. It was because i change my order to include the new ATI 9700 on the day it came out. So i got to wait 4 more weeks now!!! Main reasons for alienware is cool case, no tax (i live in CA), and upgradable graphics.

Im now looking at the Sager 5690, 15.4 wide UXGA!!! with ati 9700. Seems much cheaper, only problem is that i would have to pay tax since im a resident of CA. I also live about an hour away from Sager, providing the address they have is their offices. Anyone know if sager would let me go there and pick up my own laptop if i order thru them?? Usually when i get a new laptop, i also want to upgrade the cpu also instead of just the graphic card, so in the end i might just get myself a SAger if Alienware takes too long!!! Im really impatient! But the SAger cases looks so ugly and dull...

Someone convince to stick with Alienware, pretty much got 4 weeks to make up my mind. sigh. I just want a gaming laptop now.

Kinda if you feel the need to have people convince you to stay with AW. In regards to paying tax for the Sager, it all depends on who you buy it from no? Different resellers are in different places, etc.
I think your questions regarding Sagers would recieve more answers if you were to ask it at the sager forums themselves.

If you ask me... just hang in there and wait for that AW.

hey, if you order from sager you could come to them and pick it up once the laptop is ready. Yes, you do have to pay the tax. THere are resellers out there where you could buy the sager and not get any taxes like pctorque.com ; ) Hope i help you make up your mind

Waiting is the price you will pay for the 9700 with AW, kinda to be expected. Two things:
1) If you cancel and then decide on the AW later, I would bet you may be looking at more than 4 weeks (4-6), just because of the demand. Yours is already started.

2) If you go with Sager, I would go through www.pctorque.com, their cheaper, they run this forum, and you will probably not pay tax (as bigbadbns said) because they are out of Florida. Now, when your computer ships, because you are in California, it will ship from California to PcTorque Florida to you. That is the price you will pay for not paying tax. If you live elsewhere it ships directly from Cal.

oh, and 3) It's really a matter of what you will be happy with in the end, costs aside.

edit 1 - check out the reseller ratings for PcTorque if you need assurance on them, their off the charts http://www.resellerratings.com/seller3048.html
