I notice the ventilation to the left of my Inspiron 1420 has been running hot lately - too hot to touch, so I ran CPUID Hardware Monitor and I got these results:

ACPI: 83C/180F
CPU: 80C/175F
GeForce8400M GS: 76C/168F
HDD: 42C/109F

are these temperatures normal? thanks

Other info:
Core 2 Duo T7300
2GB RAM
160GB HDD
A08 BIOS

Those temps seem ok. Not great. If you're worried about the temp, you can buy some compressed air and shoot it through your exhaust vents. A lot of the time dust can clog the vents and cause temps to rise a bit. It's a good idea to do this every 6 months or so.

Will give those compressed air cans a try on all my notebooks.

Your Computer is running hot. I have A dell xps m1530 and it doesnt reach 80 Degrees celsius when doing normal stuff and intense gaming. I would check to make sure that you thermal paste is not dried up. Also perhaps check if inside the fan if there is lots of dust. Take some compressed air and blow out the dust. Make sure to use your laptop on flat surfaces. Check to see if you have up to date bios. Another choice is to get a laptop cooling pad.
