New Laptop did not come with Vista disk

Thread Starter
I just bought an HP DV7-1247 and it did not come with a vista installation (64 bit). I came with 20 gb partition that is a "recovery drive". I prefer to format my drives on a new computer and stall a gfresh copy with out the "junk". Anyone have advise on how to clean it off with this config?

Thanks

Before you do anything, I recommend creating some recovery disks. Check your manual as how to.

I personally find NO need to reinstall fresh to rid of "junks"! Define what are junks, and you can safely remove them from the system via Add/Remove Programs utilities.

Next step is to review and disabling un-needed startup processes and services. This would make your system flying without running into issues of deleting other needed special apps, or spending time to hunt them down and reinstall them.

cheers ...

Hi there!

I just did a quick google and found this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...cname=bph07143

A way to create recovery disks for your HP DV7-1247 on your own.

Hope this helps!

Yea most companies now are getting cheap and they don't include a Vista CD with the computer. They all have the damn partition in the damn Hard drive which is completely stupid in my humble opinion. I don't want to format using the partition because it basically restores the computer to factory default (i.e. all the bloatware softwares in it)- which is the whole reason why most advance users want to format in the beginning.

Anyway, you can try calling HP and ask for a Vista cd- I tried that but HP didn't give me one even though they said they would.
