Hi,

I've did something wrong with my Hard disk, and deleted my Recovery Partition . Now I wanted to do a clean install of vista, and then use my Recovery Disks to restore my C drive.

But now when I want to use this option, it says:

ERROR 403 .

So, my recovery partition is gone, and my Recover disks won't work . What should I do?

Can some1 please help me?
Thx!

Get hold of a Windows installation disk, download the drivers from Sony, and perform a clean install.

Thx for your reply,

But i've already did this. But now i'm getting this error:

""The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with computer.
Click ok to enter hibernate mode and remove and reinsert battery.”

After installing the utilities..
Is there any order in installing the drivers to get my hotkeys to work?

Thx!

What OS are you installing? Have you installed all available drivers and special apps from Sony site for your model?

I've installed Vista Home Premium, the same as original.. And i've installed all drivers, but the hotkeys don't work , and i'm getting that battery message..

Drivers alone won't do it for the Sony. You need to install the special softwares that come with your model.

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downl...=VGN-AR&m=3249

There is a section for "originally installed" - grab and install all of them.

YEah, sorry, but I already did that..

I've installed every utility and driver of the 'originally installed' section.

Then it is possible that the battery is failing. Any chances to borrow one to try out?

I don't think I can't find another one..
But I don't think its broken, cause yesterday It worked.. Before I did the new install of Vista..

Let us go back one step. Have you tried the suggested solution, entering hibernation, remove and re-insert the battery?

Also, got your Vista up to date?

Hi,

Yes, Vista is Up to date.

I've did that a few times, removing and re-inserting that battery, doesn't work .

Review all the current Sony processes, disable something that is called ISB. Disabling, not removing. Restart and see.

One out of 2 ... We are on the roll

Try again to dig around the Sony site for the Hotkeys app. I believe that it is what's missing.

Give this a try:

Drill down to Notebook Controls and Utilties and pick up the Vaio Event Services

Open up Task Manager and use cCleaner. Review the startup processes, and anything that is related to ISB you can just disable it.
