T400 1440x900 Resolution?

Hi. I just got my T400 and I was under the impression it was capable of a 1440x900 screen resolution. However, when I try to modify the resolution via Control Panel->Adjust Screen Resolution the highest offered resolution is 1280x800, and I'm not sure why that is?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Lenovo offers 2 different resolution screens on the T400: 1280x800 & 1440x900. It seems like you chose the WXGA instead of WXGA+ option, so the only way to get the higher resolution is to replace your screen with the higher-resolution one.

While I have this thread on the top I thought I'd post a new question I have here rather than make a new one.

I reformatted and reinstalled Windows Vista today. Upon installing the driver for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series and restarting the computer at the direction of the OS, I got a message that said something to the effect of "At least one of your display adapters has been disabled due to a problem with compatability with the VGA adapter" (or something like that).

In looking at the Radeon adapter in Device Manager, it tells me the Device status is:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I am unsure what to do about this?

Thanks again for any info.

Have you tried to pick up the driver direct from Lenovo?

cheers ...

you may have to reinstall the driver or, as Q said, use a different driver version.

Alright I got it.. had to download what seemed like a whole lot of drivers.

Sorry for asking moronic questions =/, but thanks for the responses.

Nice to hear that everything works out fine. And there was no "moronic" question :-) Do come back and visit NBF often.

Alrighty! Well, again while I've got the top thread =)..

This may not be a specifically Lenovo question but:

I'm currently dual-booting Kubuntu 9.04 and Vista. My T400 has the 6-cell battery, which I thought should be getting upwards of 4 hours running modest settings, but I'm currently getting just over 2 hours of battery life running very minimal settings in Kubuntu... I haven't tested the battery life in Vista yet but I'll do that soon.

So my question is whether or not there is anything more I can do in Kubuntu to increase battery life.. I'm comfortable in Linux but I am by no means an expert and I wouldn't necessarily know if there are settings I can change to get more out of my battery.

Thanks... again!

I believe that 6-cells batteries would offer at max 3 hours top. You can try dimming the LCDs, remove any extended hardware (USB devices per example), throttling down CPU speed - and may be you can squeeze more out of it.

Sigh... me again. Thanks again everyone for the replies.

Sometime earlier today my wireless abruptly stopped working. In both Vista and Kubuntu my WLAN is available and apparently running, but on both operating systems they fail to actually detect a wireless signal. My router is sitting ~4 inches from both this desktop and my laptop, and it works perfectly fine on this desktop... the laptop apparently is just not seeing the signal. As I understand it there is a wireless on/off switch in the front of the T400. I have toggled this on and off many times (the indicator light below the LCD goes on and off in Vista, but it does not light at all when I'm in Linux). I am at a loss. My wireless has worked perfectly since I received the computer and I am unable to determine why it would suddenly stop working.

In Vista in my Event Viewer it appears that I have two warnings regarding my WLAN-AutoConfig. One is of Event ID 4001 and says WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.

The other is of type 10002 and says WLAN Extensibility Module has stoped. Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\athihvs.dll.

I do not know what either of these mean or why they would occur..

Thank you again for any assistance.. I am apparently very error prone.

That's odd. Have you checked your battery wear? I've got a T400 review unit with a 6-cell battery and I'm getting almost 3 hours battery life playing DVDs and over 5 hours web surfing and word processing. You might want to check your battery wear. You should definitely be getting more battery life.
