Sony AW - Buy Japanese Keyboard

Hello,

New to the forum, but thought i could get some help here.

I want to purchase a new Sony AW notebook in the U.S.... however i want to get a Japanese keyboard... with japanese on the keys... etc etc. as you would get if the AW was purchased in Japan. I need it for my work... and was hoping i could find a place to just get the keyboard... and then swap them out myself.

I called sony... and they said U.S. and Japan are completely diff divisions... so they can't get a japanese keyboard for me here. I would either have to find the keyboard separately... or go to Japan and buy it.

Does anyone on here know how to get parts for the AW... perhaps from a japanese vendor?

any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated. thanks!!

I am afraid that you will not be able to get the Japanese keyboard outside Japan.

What about with just getting an external (USB) Japanese keyboard? Like from here?

thanks! yeah that would be an option, but i really just want it on my notebook so it is integrated. anyway, if i can hold off until my next trip to japan... might have to just order the keyboard part there (or maybe have a friend ship it. i wonder if sony.jp ships to USA directly?)

Having a friend shipping it for you is a better approach. I suspect that Japanese Sony would require the proof of a Japanese Sony model before it would even consider shipping out of the country.

oh wow. i havent actually purchased it yet... but i will more than likely be purchasing a sony aw290.

the keyboard is what is holding me up at the moment, in my research for notebooks. if you can get japanese parts... then i would say the chances of me getting this model would rise to 100%

I'll look into it. FYI it maybe expensive and may take 4-6 weeks...if this is not acceptable let me know and I'll hold off the search...

wow thanks.

time is not the issue. it would basically be cost. if you can just give me the cost, that would be great.

I realistically wont be making my purchase until late July or August... so i dont want you to trouble yourself too much with a search.

but if you can easily come up with a price point... or a range... that would be very helpful and a great place to start.
