MT6823b cpu upgrade?

hiya,

i know the mt5823b has a i945gm chipset which only allows me a 553 or 667mhz fsb pn 4006126r

but the question is would i be able to fit a core 2 duo cpu?
initial look says no BUT...this board seems to be fitted to a number of other laptops some of which are fitted with core 2 chips?

any thoughts on this will be a great help!

cheers

not sure how i missed that one?....thanks for pointing it out for me.

everything i have have found on my board to date only shows it as a max of 667mhz...but as long as it supports the c2d it has got to be a step in the right direction.

t5500 should be a slight improvement over the t2250 its currently on plus 64bit support as a bonus..

guess there are alot of us in the budget lappy end of the market!..lol

@method... not sure if im even looking at the right model but had a quick look at c300cto if your bios version is F14.A or higher then it says:-

Adds support for Microsoft Vista Operating Systems.
Adds support for Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor T5500.
Adds item to Setup utility (F10) to enable/disable Intel Processor Virtualization Technology.
Fixes intermittent issue where Shift, Ctrl, or Alt keys combinations may not function correctly.

so looks like your in luck!!....just keep an eye on what socket your board is fitted with when you get your new cpu!

hope it helps??

Cheers Volt!

Sorry, forgot to mention I have the C302TU, do you think the T5500 is a safe bet? I'll be sure to take lots of pics Looks like (for once) I may be in luck! Yep yep! I bought this as a cheap work laptop, (AU$600 ex demo from Myer) I've had it sitting in a wardrobe for the better part of 8 months then when my Asus was stolen I pulled it out

thats the BIG question!!.....

from what i have read quickly about your computer a c420 has a 1.66ghz/1mb cache/ 533mhz fsb 27w disp

i think the t5500 will run WAY too hot at 34w disp the cooling on your lappy is going to struggle?...your on socket `M` by the way which will limit you slightly, like me!

might be a better bet to look at the core duo cpu`s at 31w disp it may cope with the heat better?, but its still going to get warm

a t2250 like im using now which is 1.73ghz/ 2mb cache/533mhz fsb, should still give you quite a boost over a celeron, not sure what you use it for most?...but to give you some idea?...my lappy converts xvid`d to dvd faster than my old P4 3ghz ht desktop

and core duo go up to T2700 2ghz/2mb/667mhz

hope it helps a little??
