Not sure. I haven't played the first one long enough to determine its replayability and expandibility. Seems a bit soon though.

I'm excited loved the first one. Only problem was the amount of material. Valve said they were going to release DLCs like TF2 but I guess not.

Wow EA gets into a company and it goes to hell.

The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott is a group of individuals who have pledged to boycott Valve's upcoming release of Left 4 Dead 2 on November 17th, 2009. We have assembled a manifesto outlining the basic concensus of many members of our community. (Note: this manifesto is a new version, which we have recently posted to keep our manifesto in line with the middle ground of our members. This is the correct group for the boycott)

WE RECOGNIZE:

-Valve is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games.

-Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Left 4 Dead 2 until its release.

-Left 4 Dead was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community.

WE ARE COMMITTED:

-To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community.

-To keeping the Left 4 Dead community together in order to improve the quality of online gaming.

-To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2.

WE BELIEVE:

-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.

-The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead.

-Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered.

-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 will make Left 4 Dead an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release.

WE REQUEST:

-That Valve honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Left 4 Dead.

-That Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners.

-That Left 4 Dead owners be given discounts for Left 4 Dead 2, should it be released as premium content.

Therefore, we - the members of this Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott - promise to abstain from the purchase of Left 4 Dead 2 until our requests are addressed.

I didn't think they were gonna abandon the first game.

Is it just me or is the guy playing in the second video a total n00b? Or does the console version of L4D suck that much?

That being said, I think it's a little soon for a L4D full sequel. If this were an add-on pack that would be different. I just hope they don't charge full sequel price. L4D is fun don't get me wrong, but just four freaking campaigns and a Survival mode that'll rape you in 5 minutes or less isn't really worth $50. I tried Vs, but I hate it, the players playing survivors just camp in a corner and spam melee (and since they added cool-down to melee they just take turns spamming). Now playing as Infected can be delightful if teams are well balanced and your 4 infected comrades have their acts together.

And with just four campaigns, the AI director begins to repeat itself. I mean on Dead Air and no mercy I can pretty regularly predict when the AI Director is going to throw a tank or a witch or a horde at us.

Darq, EA has little to do with how Valve runs themselves. Valve has basically become the Lucasfilm of the Gaming industry. Valve's relationship with EA is limited only to retail distribution. EA doesn't finance any of Valve's projects nor has any input on them. EA is only providing Packaging and shelf space. Kinda like how 20th Century Fox distributed the last 5 Star Wars movies but did not finance them.

That may be the case, but Valve sure has taken the EA apporach to cookie cutter yearly spaming of games at full price.

I wouldn't knock on this yet. I think they have something else up their sleeve. It was already announced that content for L4D1 will be compatible with L4D2.
Yes but you have to BUY L4D2 for full price. 49.99 Total BS considering the L4D crap that was promised is no where to be seen. Hell they still have not released the SDK. F**K Valve, F**K EA.

boring

Yes that was rather boring. A little too boring. Valve might be pulling some cheesy tactics but even they aren't this bad. That video was of Dead Rising 2.

Valve will be launching a $25 million advertising campaign for Left 4 Dead 2. It's already set the record for most pre-orders in Valve history - we're a month out and it already has 3 times the pre-orders of the original - and it's projected to be the fastest selling product in their history.
