Aspire 5051 Mouse Button not working

My left mouse button had an intermittent fault in that it would only operate when pressed to one side and now it has stopped completely.

I presume it's a hardware issue rather than a driver issue as the trackpad and right mouse button still work ok.

I have to disassemble the unit to replace the fan - is it the mouse button mechanism repairable/replaceable?

If I am not mistaken, the buttons are part of the whole touch-pad, that can be replaced.

if just the plastic button, then that can be replaced with a new uppercase

if the actual button, mainboard or find a shop that can replace just the button on the mainboard.
