Aspire 6930 keyboard replacement

Thread Starter
Has anyone had to replace the keyboard on a 6930? I found a thread about the 6920 ( http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...light=keyboard ). Is it similar on the 6930? Seems as if it would be fairly easy to do. I'm not totally inexperienced, but am not dumb enough (almost, but not quite) to do it without some kind of direction first.

Thanks for any help.

Just start with the instruction and see if the outlined steps are correct.

That's what I was thinking, but with my luck....

*Medic_in_SC begins to follow instructions for a different model. After removing 4th screw, notebook disintegrates in his hands. "F*&#!!!!!!"

*Medic_in_SC logs into NBF to find that another reply had been posted minutes earlier warning that disintegration of notebook is a certainty if aforementioned instructions for another model are followed. The 4th screw should not under any circumstances be removed.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have an Aspire 6930 that had some juice spilled on the keyboard. I was able to take the keyboard out and clean it (soaked in isopropyl alcohol for 1/2hr, then air dried over night).
I've now reinstalled the keyboard, but when I boot the system, the keyboard is non-functional. None of the key presses register with the system. I've tried taking it out again, cleaning the ribbon cable, and reinstalling, but that didn't help.
Is there a trigger to reset after keyboard removal, or is the keyboard probably shot?

Looks like it is shot to me. Have you checked the connector thoroughly? where the keyboard goes into the motherboard.

I havent messed with that model but i did a keyboard replacement on my older laptop,if i remember right, unplugged it took battery out, think their were 4 screws under battery to take out, then turned over popped out that cover closest to screen, then their were like 4 screws holding keyboard in,take them out lift up keyboard, take the ribbon off keyboard, their was some kind of catch you had release from ribbon to get it off...then reverse procedure.
Also i was using i user guide from a similair model, ended up everything worked perfect....good luck................

There are disassembly instuctions in the sticky threads above this post...."Acer Service Guides"..check there

I just joined this forum for the express reason of thanking all those involved.

I was looking for guidance in removing the damaged keyboard from my wife's Acer Aspire 6930.

The Acer service guide sticky in this forum was the answer.

There are several generic Acer keyboard removal videos on the internet, but nothing specific to this model.

If I didn't have the specific service guide for my model, I would have certainly done some serious damage to the computer.

Thanks for the very helpful information.
