Buyers Beware...

Just want all you m1730 potential buyers to hear my little story before you fork out the big bucks:

I bought the XPSm1730 a year ago (May2) and when it arrived it came with the wrong backpack I had ordered. No big deal. Then I opened it and one of the raid drives had already been corrupted and failed. Ok I had it replaced.

I was under the 4 year Complete Care warranty plan.

Since then the raid drive has failed once again (got it replaced) and then the 8800GTX's failed (got it replaced). I've had to reinstall Windows about 5 times in this whole ordeal.

That's not the end though. The battery has degraded to the point where I can't run it on batter power alone. It always has to be plugged in. Can I replace the battery? No! Battery's aren't covered under the 4 year plan!! They are only covered for 1 year! News to me! So now I get to fork out $147 for a new one.

I'm loving my dad's iMac right now...

Sorry to hear you've had some bad experiences with your computer. For future information, batteries are never covered for over one year from any company (although HP is now starting to warrant some special batteries for 2 years), so while the failed battery is annoying, it's not negligent.

Use it like there's no tommorow, and you will get your money's worth.

Battery not being under warranty should be some what common sense though.
