Perfect Case

Hey all,

I finally took the plunge and ordered! I just found out that I'm on hold while waiting for the hard drive to come in Oh well, I guess I've waited this long.

While I'm waiting, I'm trying to find the perfect case. I tend to travel light, so I was thinking some sort of slipcase might be the way to go. What are the rest of you using?

I would advise against a case where the computer slides in.

Saw an Alienware with scratches caused by the carry case.

I ordered the Alienware Backpack... the only thing is it doesn't protect the whole machine.. which is kinda odd... but its still pretty handy....

Good point, Booga. Is the green just paint?

The Alienware cases seem too bulky, more geared to the Area-51's...

The green and blue looks like car paint with extra clear coat.
(I haven't seen silver and black)

Thanks, I was just checking out that thread.

The backpack looks cool, but ewolff didn't seem too happy with it.

I want to make sure that I have someway to transports it when it finally gets here!

Decisions, decisions...

I just noticed that the AW messenger bag is the slide in type that you're talking about, Booga. Which one did you go with, O great and mighty sage! Has anyone else had this experience with scratching, with the AW bag or another? I'd be if I shelled out 2k+ only to have it scatched by the thing that I bought to keep it safe!

Yeah, and I understand his concern... Just hope it never happens... the " Great FALL" this is... But, other than that it looks like it will serve my purpose...

Here ya go!

Looks a lot like the Halliburton cases. maybe not quite as bulletproof...

If you are looking for a backpack, I recommend the Jansport Lapstation. You can find it on the net for about 100 dollars. What is good about it is that it does not scream "steal me!" with a Targus or AW brand on it. There have been several threads on this subject, might want to try out the search button.

I have a Targus clone that zips open and flap all the way open. Laptop lifts out without sliding.

I ordered the Alienware backpack and I'm pretty happy with it. The padding inside is really good and more than enough to protect the computer. I take it to school with me every day and it's really comfortable to wear, even if it's full of stuff. As far as scratching, there isn't a single one on my laptop, and I carry it with me all the time. The bag keeps the laptop pretty snug inside.

I use a timbuk2 sleeve with a timbuk2 messenger bag (but I ride my bike everywhere). I've been using the bag and the sleeve for about 3 years (with different laptops) through sun, rain, and snow and it's held up great... plus they make custom stuff. You can check them out here:

If you are looking for a true case... maybe something like what Falcon Northwest is providing might suit your needs.

That's a nice case at Falco Northwest. I like the Halliburton's, but the price is a bit high.
