Hey all. This forum has been of great help for me in the past with working some issues out. At the moment, I have an issue with my DVD drive that I cant reference anywhere.
Specs:
Inspiron 9400
DVD Drive: TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B with firmware DE04
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
Basically, if I have a disc(any type) in the drive on startup (from power on, or wake up from Hibernation) I am able to access the drive and read or write to the disc no problem.
However, if I eject a disc and then insert a new one, or keep the same previous disc in the tray, and close the drive, then I am unable to read or access the disc. There is no blinking light like usual when you close a drive, doing the OPC check, and the computer believes there is no disc in the drive.
If I eject the drive using software, or when it thinks I am trying to access the drive and it opens the tray automatically, it keeps trying to open it. As in, you get that noise of the drive constantly trying to eject, and you cant push the drive closed. Until the computer gives up trying to, what it thinks, open the drive. After that you can close it again, but are still not able to access the drive.
This has bugged me for a long time and I would really like to sort it out. Everytime I want to put a new disc in the drive, I have to insert it, then shut down the computer or close the screen, and then start it up again. Very annoying.
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.
