T61 Display Issues

Thread Starter
I was trying to run an older game(Starcraft if you want to know) on my T61 which was running XP. However it was only taking up the top left quarter of the screen. I tried various things that didn't work before getting this advice from Blizzard(the game manufacturer).

http://us.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleId=20814

-In the Display Properties Settings screen
- Click Advanced
- Click Adapter
- Click List all modes...
- Select 640 by 480, x Colors, x Hertz (Please try the lowest settings for x first)

My screen went black and I waited for a few minutes hoping it would automatically revert like display settings usually do. It didn't so I restarted my computer. Now the display is super zoomed in like you'd expect from 640 by 480 but the problem is that I can't change it back.

When I go to the settings menu of the display properties I get this error message
Invalid Display Settings: The Currently Selected Graphics display driver can not be used It was written for a previous version of windows and is no longer compatible with this version of Windows. The system has been started using the default VGA driver. Please contact your hardware manufacture to get an upgraded driver, or select one of the Microsoft driver.

The graphics card I am using is the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M that came with the computer. In the display settings menu the only color quality available is 4 bits and the only resolution is 800x600. When I go the Advanced/Adapter/List All Modes menu that I originally changed the only options are 800x600 with 16 colors and 640x480 with 16 colors where before there were like 20 options. I have updated the drivers and still nothing works.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try uninstall and reinstall the display device within devices manager.

Nice to hear. You might also want to see if there is a patch for your game.

Enjoy NBF.
