Blue Screen Off Death Help... please : )

Hello everyone!

I have a HP dv6000z CTO that is in great condition aside from one minor issue... I keep getting a blue screen of death when I play Sims 2 or Sims 3.

Microsoft XP SP3
NVIDIA 7200
RAM 1gb
2gb virtual memory

So I know it's not some amazing gaming machine, but I should be able to play sims in peace. The BIOS is up to date, I tried reinstalling the video card drivers, I have also reinstalled the OS (not for this reason)....still no such luck. I've even adjusted the hardware accelerator.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I am willing to buy a new motherboard, but I'm not willing to by a new laptop right now.

I will try to catch the BSOD error message and post it, but the message shows for a very short period of time...

After the reboot windows detects the error to be with the video driver.

Maybe that will help some until I can catch the error message.

Try get into safe mode, and deselect the automatic restart in the system control panel. This will display the BSOD screen until you press the reset button.

You might want to update the video driver and see if there is any game patches from the sites.

Sorry for the (very) late feedback.

You might want to try to re-install the gpu driver again, first using driver cleaner, and go back to an older gpu driver version.

cheers ...
