Aspire 8935g - Using Intel and not ATI - ARG!

Well, I finally got my Acer 8935G, and right away, wiped the hard drive clean of all the crap that comes on notebooks. In this process, I removed the "recover" partition... didn't think much of it at the time until I realized they didn't include a single CD with drivers or OS. Oh well, thats not the issue.

I loaded the computer up with the RC version of Windows 7 - and everything seems to be working great, except, the LCD is using the built in Express Intel 45 Display Chipset, and no the ATI Radeon 4670.

I have both devises listed in my Hardware Manage, and under display properties, but I am unable to set the screen to use the proper display adapter...

My other issue is - acer doesn't even have this model listed on their website as it is so new - they don't have any place to download drivers and neither does anywhere on the internet.

I was told I am one of the first to get this laptop in Canada... boy does this suck.

Can anyone help me out here?

Update:
They just added this product to their driver downloads - I installed the ATI drivers from them, without any success.

Somehow W7 sees your 8935G as 3935, the baby sister of this notebook. My wild guess.

Have you tried deleting the Intel entry in the display devices?

Hope MichelleG drops by soon to see this.

When I delete the entry from the Device manage, my screen goes black. I have to restart for it to re-find, and re-install the intel express crapchip.

You can give this a try.

. Install the ATI driver (you already did this I believe)

. Uninstall Intel Driver and software from Add/Removal Program.

. Disconnect yourself from the net and restart.

We hope that at next start up, W7 will ask for where the driver is located.

Thanks for your help thus far - this is very frustrating.

Disabled my internet, removed the Intel driver and did a hard shut down.

When it booted back up, it was using the deafult 800x600 resolution, which was good. When I rebooted, with the internet still off, it came back up with 1920 x 1080 resolution using the Intel Graphics Chip.

To note, when I go into display properties, it shows my Intel and my ATI Radeon as options for monitors, however, I cannot use them as they are not "connected" - the only one I can use is the "Default Monitor" when double clicked shows its the Intel chipset.

Let us give it one more try.

Do the same things in post#4 again. But before starting it, download this small utility

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/de...leaner_pro.cfm

This time at the first restart, try get into Safe Mode, run the utility and try clearing out whatever it has left from the Intel drivers. Stay off the net during these time.

Looks like I found another user having the same problems as me from Europe...

I will also give that a shot and let you know if it works.

I am looking at sites in Germany and France myself.

By the way I removed your link to NBR, since it shows your posts with the same topic there. For us, it is multiple posting ;-)

I was just showing you the reply from 1v1... who had the same problem as me and his experiences.

I understood fully. No faux-pas on your part :-) Just wanted to inform you why I edited the post.

And I did appreciate the given tip.
