I just received my new Sager 5797.
My specs:
I've had a few issues that I was hoping this forum could help me with.
Laptop won't shut down.
I thought this could be a chipset related problem, so I did some research. (The Chipset Driver on Sager's website is dated 28-Jul-08)
I have tried to do the "Chipset Identifier" program from the Intel website, but get the error message "Not compatible with Vista".
According to the Sager website, I have the: Intel® PM45 Chipset + ICH9M
Sager - (click on "Specifications") http://www.sagernotebook.com/product...php?pid=129131
Intel chipset specs - http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35515
I went to Intel's site and have several download options. Which one is for me?
Mobile Intel® 915 Express Chipset Family
Mobile Intel® 910GML Express Chipset
Intel® 852/855 Chipset Family
Intel® 845 Chipset Family
Intel® 830 Chipset
Intel® 815 Chipset Family
Intel® 440 Chipset Family
Intel® 430 Chipset Family
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family
Am I barking up the wrong tree?
One more issue that I've had is with software installs.
I was installing UT3 and it took over 3 hours.
Insert disc -> select language -> agree to TOS -> Select install location -> Next
The progress bar appears and sits. 3 hours later the progress bar starts to move and the remainder of the install time seem normal.
The game and editor run fine once installed.
It also hung up when I tried to install my Hava Box software.
The progress bar was half way for 4 hours before I canceled the install.
Also gave up on the Half Life 2 install. 5 discs of "Wait 3 hours and think about it" each is too much to deal with.
Any help or info would be appreciated.

Laptop won't shut down.
- When I tell it to shutdown, it hangs.
- It will get to the "0 Shutting Down" screen and sit for ~10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, it throws up a bsod, counts down from 30, and reboots into Windows.
- An error message pops up and tells me that Windows has recovered from a serious error.
