2009 E3: What's Hot/Missing Games

Every year I do a E3 wrap up about what I loved and what I was disappointed about. My last year wrap up was filled with big titled games. You can check it out here.

This year was a bit different. Only 1 big title game remained on my list from last year, and sadly, it's a giant one.

Missing Games

1. Half-Life 2: Episode 3: A second E3 in a row with no new info on this game. We have no idea where Valve is in development, we have no idea how long it's going to be, or where the game is taking place, or what the missing will be... nothing. I'm extremely disappointed about this.

2. Aliens: Colonial Marines: I'm not too disappointed about not seeing anything for this game. We did hear that development had halted on this project a couple of weeks ago due to lack of funding, but we were also graced with another AvP game that looks to be hot, so a lot of the heat was taken off this title. I hope to hear more soon.

3. Grand Turismo 5: Not one new video. Not one piece of new information except that a PSP version will be coming.

4. Final Fantasy XIII: Versus: Wasn't expecting much, instead of videos for this game we were told about an upcoming Final Fantasy XIV MMO that will be cross platform between the PS3 and PC.

5. Rage Missing from E3. Maybe they're waiting for Quakecon 09.

What's Hot

1. Uncharted 2. This is def my #1 anticipated game of the year. Holy crap are these new trailers hot as hell.

2. WET. I've been tracking this game for a while and we finally got some sweet gameplay videos this year. It looks to be a Kill Bill meets Grindhouse meets the Matrix. Check it out.

3. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. A new Castlevania game looks to be like Another God of War clone. Too soon to tell, but we are def pumped for it.

4. Assassin's Creed 2. Wow. How much better does this game look than the first??? A shit ton better. They've seemed to improve on all aspects of the first game... we just need to make sure it's not as repetitive as the first.

5. Alan Wake. Some extraordinary new videos using light to harm your enemies and puzzles to solve. This game feels like a throw back to Silent Hill.

6. Borderlands. Inspired by the Mad Max trilogy, despite going through a art style change, this game will surely sell well.

7. Heavy Rain; Quite possibly the most realistic graphic intensive game ever made? Check out the videos are see for yourself.

HL2 EP3 should have been out a long long time ago. Valve has really dropped the ball on a lot of things. HL2 EP3 and L4D2, lack of DLC for L4D. I am pretty much done with them.
