Acer Aspire 6930G - Sound problem

Hi,

This is my first post here so I will present myself and explain what my problem is exaclty.
My name is Axel, I am a french graphics student ( in a college in england
I bought this laptop about 10 days ago.
Acer Aspire 6930g :
-Windows Vista
-Intel Core2 Duo processor P7450, 2.13 Ghz
-4 GB DDR2
-Nvidia Geforce 9600M 1GB
-320 GB HDD
-16"
-Gorgeous laptop .. lol love it

It had a few sound problems ( not that annoying but I'd rather get rid of them ^^ ) with my subwoofer, now and again it did some annoying sound like grzzzz when it went to the bass. I had to change the sound to the normal settings, then go back to the high definition sound. ( the one with 6 or 7 different "speakers", instead of the normal stereo one which has only 2, Left and Right. )
Sometimes, my music stopped playing "problems with the audio card" or something.

So I decided to get rid of those problems by installing the latest ( i think ) realtek audio driver.
After the installation, i realised that :
1. The sound didn't work anymore AT ALL
2. When I went in that audio sound properties, it only showed me the stereo, and I can't see the 2nd one which had a better sound quality ( more speakers, more 3d sound .. )

Anyway, I just would like to know if the weird noise coming from the subwoofer is a big problem, and if I should get it back to the shop, or if it's only a driver problem.
And I also would like to know how to get my sound back, and my high quality + subwoofer aswell.

Thanks.
Peacee

Update : the sound works, but it's not high definition and I think the tuba isn't working ...

Hi, uninstall the driver from Device Manager, then go to Empowering Technology , e-recovery, click on Restore, then Drivers and applications, content window opens.
click on contents, go down the list to Realtek HD audio and click install. I had roughly the same problem. If u don't uninstall from Device Manager first of all and go directly to
eRecovery it will probably install only the Microsoft HD Audio.

Hi What do u mean about not having the recovery disk ?
If you have Empowering technology installed it shud work as described above.

If not uninstall from Device Manager and download the Realtek HD audio driver from the Acer Website.

I had to do a full format on my harddrive and I lost the recovery partition. Do you know what kind of drivers are thouse inside the recovery ?
With the drivers from the acer website is the same. Sound working for a while and then sudenlly stops. And my subwoofer is not working too.

The drivers from Acer support site should be good for a clean installation. Have you tried also download the applications that come with the notebook, within the download section?

Can you also expand "works for a while and then stops"?

cheers ...

I've noticed on the Acer Website that there are different versions of Realtek HD Audio Driver depending on the laptop model.

I already tried thouse drivers.
With the original drivers i had in the recovery partition when I bought my laptop the sound is perfect, but after i reinstall my windows ... my sound stoped working right.
The subwoofer is bizzing - its not working like subwoofer more like an old radio.
And after a while my whole sound quality is decreasing a lot. Its bizzling and scratching like, basicly not good.
Do you know what kind of drivers were there in the recovery partition ?
After a restart the sound is perfect but in a while it gets bad again.

The one I see on the Acer Europe Support site is Realtek 6.01.5704 42.5MB dated 2008/12/04

Have you tried that one?
