m5700 graphics problem

Alright, I just bought this laptop today with what was presumed to be a blown screen. I got it home and hooked it up to a monitor, and it appears that whenever you connect it the laptop shuts off.

I tried starting it while the monitor is plugged in as well as plugging in the monitor while it is running, no dice. The little cd player function still works, I get audio and everything, and all the fans are firing up except for the video card fan. When I took the heat sink off there aren't any burn marks on the chip itself.

Any ideas?

*EDIT* It is a m7700, not 5700

There is no way for me to update the drivers, because there is no way for me to view ANYTHING on the screen or an external screen.

Shit umm can you at least see the boot up screen?
Right at bootup constantly press f8 and try and run it in safe mode.

I think last resort would be to erase the partition on your hardrive and install windows again. With a clean install the OS. That way if you def don;t see anything its the gpu thats fried.
