There is the laptop.

I am wondering if I formatted and installed Windows XP, would I be getting the maximum out of the laptop? I hear all these things about you shouldn't go back to XP and etc. but can I get some answers from you guys?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the drivers available for your notebook. Different operating systems require different drivers to make all the hardware in a computer work properly. If there are XP drivers for your notebook, then yes, you would be getting "the maximum" out of the notebook. However, if there are not XP drivers available, then you may lose some functionality. You should be able to find out which driver versions are available by going to HP's support site and looking up the model number.
