Sager 9850 pre-order

Now that it's up for pre-sale on several vendors what do you guys think?

I think i'll















stick with mine

It's a fine machine just wish it supported i7...But, almost impossible...that would require too much power...

I dont see it leaving the desktop too much.

It seems that for the money the 9280 is a better buy power wise. I guess we will have to wait for full reviews of both to see which makes more sense. I really wish we knew about overclocking potential for both rigs.

Ya i would like to know that too...Mine is sitting at home in my closet still in the box....And i'm sitting in Shanghai China

But, i will be home on the 20th of this month and i will put up a review then.

I seen on another site a tech was getting between 14k and 15k on 3dmark 06, I think he was OC but i dont think he was OC the CPU just the GPU...He hasn't posted his review yet, Everybody is waiting to see how he got the scores. He's not talking

Even if there is no OC as of now via bios...I guarantee someone will figure it out...There are other ways i'm sure.

It's a lot prettier than the 9280. Ultimately, though, I want Core i7 under the hood, so I'm either going to wait for Sager to come out with a Calpella rig (which will hopefully be sli-capable), or just go for the 9280 (also hoping sli becomes an option here).

The problem with SLI and the 9280 has got to be power related as the i7 draws 130w. Calpella looks like it is coming out with lower clocks than Montevina--what gives?

The I7 has a 135w TDP not 135w power draw. But yea that is the problem.

What chassis do you guys think will carry Sager's initial top-end Calpella rig? 9850? 9280? 5797? It would be sweet if it goes in the 9850 chassis, with SLI.

Oh baby I just creamed myself a little bit. Possibility of SLI aside - do you guys think the 9280 with the desktop i7 will perform much better than a Calpella rig? In general, what's the performance difference between a desktop chipset and its notebook counterpart?

How about price-wise?

How about price-wise?

Higher TDP more power in desktop chip vs. notebook chip so i7 will out perform calpella due to power constraints.

Windows XP?

I am planning on pre-ordering the 9850. It looks like a BEAST!

My question is... will it be Windows XP pro compatible with an Intel Quad core?

Unfortunately, the 9850 is not Windows XP Pro compatible...only Vista. Sorry .

I guess my question would have been better phrased if I simply asked whether anybody knows how Clarksfield/Ibex Peak-M setups will compare, pricewise, with the Core2 Montevina setups in the 9850..

Probably a $500 jump in price. For the minimum CPU option.
