IBM to market new colors to expand notebook customer base

Quote:
IBM aims to expand its customer base for its notebooks by introducing models with new color schemes worldwide in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Hank Horng, president of the personal systems group at IBM Taiwan.

IBM’s new notebooks to be launched in the fourth quarter will include models available in colors that appeal to general consumer groups, Horng said. Horng did not specify which colors would be available.
Here's another interesting tidbit...

Quote:
The new models may also be available in a non-IBM brand, Horng added. For example, IBM partnered with LG Electronics in 2003 to launch an “LG IBM” silver-colored X-Note brand notebook.
Could this mean they might expand availability of models like the Xnote LM50?

We had a very funny topic about this news in a French forum.

Some members came with very funny versions. Unfortunately that forum is actually down but as soon as it resumes, I will put you the best Thinkpads they made

Sounds good, please do post the link. I just hope there aren't any pink Thinkpads.

I applaud IBM with this decision. I feel that their PCs and notebooks are looking too business-like. I've read great reviews of IBM laptops, but the 'boxy' design reminds me of the old boxy cars or the 80s. IBMs aren't pretty (compare the looks to Apple or Alienware), hopefully this is a step ahead.

Pretty, envokes yearning and envy.

Not pretty, where's my buisness suit?

form and functionality can exist, my 2 cents

I totaly agree with you...

Having a notebook with the realiability of an IBM, as well with its worksmanship, along with with the looks of something like a Voodoo notebook, or a AW, would be one of the best things ever. It would probably be one of the best selling notebooks

I'm sorry but I disagree, I find the Thinkpad one of the nicest designs and I love black
