Unofficial batteries - any good?

Thread Starter
Despite the fact that I spent a grand on my vaio SZ 3 years ago I'm too much of a cheap and scummy student to spend a further £140 on a replacement battery for my laptop. Are the cheapish batteries that show up on eBay and other sites any good? I've noticed that they're typically 4400mAh, which is less than the 5200mAh of the official batteries. Does anyone have any experience with them? I currently get around 2 hours battery life with an official battery at 60% capacity, I'm hoping for a boost up to 3 hours. Is this a realistic expectation?

you might want to ask one of the NBF battery resellers: BatteryFuel or Battery Genie

I (MichelleG)-congree.

My personal preference is to stay away from non-OEM notebook batteries. Too many bad experiences to believe that they are worth saving on $$$

cheers ...

Bite the bullet and buy OEM...3rd party batteries are crap. They use cheap cells and contacts. I've seen them fry a bunch of nice laptops...it's like owning a Porsche and using the cheap gas to run it...in the long run you'll have issues...
