Not yet ... still waiting for a piece or two for the build it's going into.

Congrats on the order.

Do you think 128 GB is enough for Vista and junk? I've never installed Vista before so this is new to me. I've been XP for a long time now.

Also which model did you order? There's a few with a verity of different read/write times.

Random thought - Building your own is overrated. You can definitely save a few bucks, but, if you know how to shop, you can put a prebuilt together for a good price.

That said, once you build a few, you can do it in about 30 minutes, so there's something to be said for that as well. Then you have to load the OS, which is always fun.

And you don't have to load the OS when you have a respawn DVD.

Can you call and get upgraded free to Windows 7 Ultimate when it launches? Looks like the start date for this upgrade option is for purchases after 26 Jun 09.

I didn't see that $49 option included in your OP. Even if it was, Win7 AlienSpawn?

Loading Vista is MUCH easier than it was with XP. Vista is only a couple clicks and then you wait a while. Also, Vista's PE environment has support for USB devices as well as CD drives for loading SCSI/RAID drivers.

As for loading OSes goes, nlite makes XP quite easy for me. Boot system from disc and sit back and wait about 45 minutes for setup to finish and HUZZAH no driver installation required. I still have to play a bit with vlite though.

Vista Ultimate's included backup utility also has a complete PC restore image creator. It saves an image of your system to any external drive or spans it across DVDs or CDs. Wish it worked over network.
