Removing switch cover on HP DV7 1267cl

I followed the instructions in the manual as to how to remove the switch cover (6 screws on bottom and 2 in media bay), but I just can't pry the dang thing up - it feels like if I apply any more force it will break. I know there is a trick to this, anyone know what it is??
