I have a Presario v6000 that has the below symptoms. My BIOS is F25. If I upgrade the BIOS Will this fix the Wireless issues described below? TIA ***The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.*** Also, on the HP Site there are 2 choices for BIOS. One for AMD processors and one for others. I have a Turion AMD. What would happen if I installed the other one? It has a date of 3/2009. The AMD one has 2/2007.

. IF your comp currently issue that you stated and that is protoclled in the OP link.

. Giving the fact that you have F25 version, I would go with the F42.

. Owning many HP models, BIOS would not update if it not being made for you. Follow the screen to backup the previous version as always.

Thanks ghn. I have never backed up or updated a BIOS. Will I be able to go back if needed to f25?

The HP BIOS update utility should give you the option to back up previous version before updating.

Just updated the BIOS to F42. Still no Wireless. Activity Light is Orange. Adapter not listed in Device manager. Reinstalled all drivers. Still nothing. WLAN is ENABLED in BIOS. (A USB Wirelss adapter works fine). I read for hours on Google about this. When I saw this post, I thought HP had fixed it. I guess not. Any ideas??

A long shot here, but are you willing to try the other BIOS? The F.3D?

I did not see the relationship between the F25 and the F.3D, but it is possible that HP split the version out for the AMD machines, just for this issue.

As always, take the backup option before the upate.

lol...I guess it's worth a shot. The OP's link said HP's newest BIOS fixed the issue. I see F3D is from 07 and 42 is from 09. Will give it a go. Will report back later on the results. I really appreciate the advice.

There is no "fix".From what ive gleened off the net its a sysytem board problem.Basically the mobo/chiposet is poor manufacture.Whether its Quanta's mobo or Nvidia's chipset is up in the air. on the hp site they have a "Flowchart".Which is what i think the hp techs use to diagnose your puter when you send it back Call HP fisrt to see if you are coverd by the "Enhancment Warranty"Be Sure to use those words!!!!!!!!!!!Got mine fixed for free.
1.Go to the HP site.2.Click Support and Drivers.3.Enter your complete model #. 4.find "Manuals" 5.Find "Maintance and Service Guide".The Flowcharts should be 2.3 in the pdf index.6. find the "nonfunctioning Device Flowchart and follow it.(it'll basicaally tell you to reseat the device (take out the Minicard) if that dosent work it tells you to pull the RTC battery if it still doesnt work they call for replacing the Systems Board. If you have the same prob as me then; Please Call HP FIRST.

Thanks for the reply justinmisti2005 even if it is bad news. From what I have learned, doing all the things you mentioned will get it to work but after a full shutdown, it stops again. I was able to get it work a few times but after every reboot it would stop. So I just got a USB Wireless adapter and it works great. I guess I will leave the BIOS at F42 but I sure would like to get it fixed right.

So F.3D did not do the job?

No it didn't. I am lost. I guess I will have to just use the USB Wireless Adapter. I think I have done everything I can do unless someone posts a new suggestion.

I would still like to try out the F.03D BIOS update just to exhaust the options offered from this HP link before going further.

Ok, I just rolled back to F3D. Still no wireless. No WLAN in Device Manager. Wireless Assistant won't load when clicked on. So I reinstalled the WLAN adapter. Still no wireless and no assistant. I then reinstalled Wireless assistant. Wireless Assistant loaded once but said Wireless adapter Disabled in Device Manager. Went to DM and my adapter was not there. (my USB Adapter shows when I plug it in).

Tried again to reinstall drivers in Safemode and still no Wireless. I would still like to get this fixed on my own. HP wants too much to repair. (1 yr warranty)

I have been following up on this issue since speaking with you, and the only way to go about it is to send the notebook to HP for a motherboard swap :-( This is nut.

An office co-worker mentioned that you can try to re-install the GPU (yes, graphic driver) driver from the nVidia Support Site.

Want to give this a try?
