VGN-FS38GP problematic sony

I have a VGN-FS38GP and after i formatted i lost sound. i have downloaded several sound drivers and sound does not work. please someone help me out.

What OS did you have before? What OS do you have after re-formatting?

What i had there was XP but i do not know the service park. But currently i have installed WinXP sp 2 and its not working

I am very grateful for your help and assistance but i have tried that many times and it did not work. It will successfully install and i will restart system but it still does not work.

Sounded like you might need to update your XP to SP3, or find a patch for High Definition Audio from Microsoft.

I will go and buy SP3 right away then i will get back to you after installing.

You don't need to buy SP3, download the Service Pack free from Microsoft and install on top of your SP2. Good lucks.

I bought it and upgraded my system and the HD Audio began to work. I am very grateful and happy. Thank you as this is the best community with your help.
