2530P locking up at bootup / no network connection

The title says it all, I have several of these machines (Windows XP SP3) all doing the same thing, will hang at the Windows XP screen. When the user is finally able to log in, maybe after 5 or 6 attempts they will have no network connection.

I have the latest BIOS and network card drivers loaded.

Welcome to NBF!

. Are these issues just happening?
. Are the notebooks on a network? Wireless?
. Checked the router settings?
. Is Windows up to date?
. ...

cheers ...

These issues have been happening out of the box, connected direct to LAN, Windows is up 2 date.

. What are the background processes? Try disabling what you don't need.
. Network settings - DHCP, static?
. Anti-virus app?
. Firewall?

cheers ...

I forgot to mention that this cycle begins when the user boots up and they have no network connection, in device manager there will be a yellow exclamation point next to the ethernet adapter, then the user reboots and it just goes on and on and on.

I know where you are going with this but it has nothing to do with any background services or my antivirus, I have imaged and deployed about 100 of these machines and it seems to be an issue with only a handful.

This link is pretty close to what is going on with my machines. (we have these models as well) I updated the BIOS and network drivers but without success.

I read the link. You have the latest input there as I saw.

How about going into device manager, disable/remove the NIC and restart the comp to see if XP picks it up again.

cheers ...

I have the exact same problem at our company, we have a couple of 100 2530p out and only a handfull of them has weird-acting NICs. The nic stops working and sometimes itll start again after a few reboots on its own, otherwise we have replaced the drivers with new ones from intel or down/upgraded the bios version to get it to work again. This fixes most of the problems however some of our computers still gets the same problem later on. New drivers may fix it, but when the NIC isnt working PXE-boot isnt working aswell, and no drivers have any effect there.

When we send the computers to HP they just say "its working" and they send them back.
