Asus G50Vt-B1 keyboard change

Hi,

I bought an Asus G50Vt-B1 laptop and I really like it. The only thing I don't completely like is the keyboard. Since I bought it in the U.S. it has the U.S. / English keyboard layout. It's not that big of a deal but since I am from Austria, I would like to have the German/Austrian keyboard. My question is: is it possible to change the keyboard, and if yes, can someone give me a link to instructions or something like that. Didn't find anything useful on the internet.

Thanks in advance

Many Asus models have 2 screws on the bottom marked K which hold the keyboard in. If you unscrew those, then you should be able to pop out the tabs at the top edge of the keyboard and take it out, making sure you disconnect the keyboard to motherboard connector. You should be able to get the keyboard you want from Asus Germany.

Thanks a lot, I will order it tonight.
Does anyone know if you loose warranty if you change the keyboard?

I doubt it since you're not changing anything difficult or likely to mess up the system. However, you can call Asus and check.

unless you use your notebook on the run, I would recommend getting an external DE/AT keyboard and be done with it. Key covers are also good and cheap, especially when switching between EN and DE/AT software related input.

cheers ...
