need advice buying Vostro 1320

Hello,

I am intending to buy a Vostro 1320, I will use it for text editing, Internet surfing, occassional photoediting, so I don't have high hardware demands only that computer works smoothly.

There are some things which I dont understand:

1) they offer processors with fsb 800 Mhz and fsb 1066 Mhz, but the RAM memory works on 800 Mhz

I am prepared to pay for little bit better processor but do I have advantage of better CPU when I have slower Ram ?

2) they have also half-height and full-height wireless card,
is it some particular advantage with half-height ?

3) is it worth to buy 256 MB Nvidia instead of onboard Intel X4500MHD graphics card, and as I said my demands on graphics are not so high ?

thanks in advance

The memory speed is a chipset limitation, I think 800 Mhz is the highest DDR2 SODIMMS clock at.

If the price is not too much more go for the faster CPU. It helps in the overall perfromance of the laptop, even if the memory clocks @ 800 Mhz.

Chose your wireless card to match your needs Eg. A/B/G/N bands,
I suggest a multiband card so if ever your needs change your already to go, and they are really not that expensive.

As far as the video card, the 256 NVidia card would be my choice as it will perfrom much better than the onboard GPU, and it much easier to have it now, then wish you had it 6 months from now.
Having said that - how much more is the card?

the card 256 Mb is about 100 euro, if it it is significant difference in performanace I would buy it

and one more question:

Dell is selling some confiugration with LED dispaly which is about 80 euro cheaper.

Is the LED display much worse than usual and what is the difference ?

3DMark 06 scores are as follows

4500 - averages 1332 scores

NVidea 9300 averages around 1900 scores

I have the RGB LED screen and it's great

The LED displays use less power and seem to provide a brighter screen.

is the LED option a lesser resolution ?

LED option is avaliable for vostro 1520 (15,4") and resolution is lower 1280x800 and usual resolution is 1440x900

this 1520 I would by for my mother and she doesnt need hight resolution only that she can easily read the text . If the LED screen gives good contrast and readibility of the text I would consider of buying it. She will use only skype and Internet Explorer.

vostro 1320 is for me.
