Hi All,
It's been a long while since I last posted here, I hope this place is still as great as it used to be.
The reason I'm here again is that I need a little bit of advice in regards to what laptop to buy, I have been working a lot in the recent years and I kinda lost track of the notebook 'market'

In short I'm looking for:

1. as fast as possible, I don't game or cad at all so graphics card can be anything. but I will be connecting two lcd panels so should be decent enough to handle this.

2. Easy to install two SSDs in raid0, I don't mind if i have to remove the optical drive to do this though.
3. screen resolution had to be 1920x1200 or 1920x1080
4. screen size preferrably 16.4
5. as light and thin as possible

What do you suggest? my budget is upto 4000$ (not including the ssds as I already have them)

You're probably gonna need a 17 inch notebook. I don't know of many 15 inch notebooks with two available hard drive slots.

That's really strange, the sony z is 13" but has two hdd slots, I know the dell m6400 also have this option, is it not really that important feature for vendors to include it in their hight end 15-16 laptops? The xps studio 16 is perfect for what I need but the only drawback it hasn't got a raid option.

Don't know of any 16.4" model's,but worth considering is the HP ellitebook 8530w as that can have a secondary hard drive in the media bay which can be Raided.also WUXGA 15.4"

Think there are also some 15" Asus model's G50V ?? which can have 2 hard drive's in Raid, don't think they come with 1920x1200 and are not thin and light really though.

My notebook has another drive in the media bay but it can't use Raid 0 or 1,only intel rapid restore technology,I think the Lenovo W500 doesn't support raid0 either, but I'm not 100% on that.

Like Steve say's,it's pretty limited sub 17"

I think it's just demand issue. They'll be a few small notebooks out there that support two hard drives, but it's not a big market.

I dont understand the need for 2 SSDs in RAID 0 as the SATA 2 would be the limiting factor anyway. You should be looking for a high end SLC based SSD.
