According to customer service I cannot... is this true?

Last I heard you are allowed to move up to the 64 bits version, but not via the upgrade path. You must perform a clean install in this case.

Example:

. Vista Home premium 32 bits upgrade -> W7 Home premium 32 bits

. Vista HP 32 bits -> W7 HP 64 bits by clean install.

cheers ...

aha I see.

So it is technically possible. However, the AW customer service says that if I were to do that, and I then had to send my computer into them they would reset it to factory settings... as in they would give me Vista again.

Is there someway I can change my "factory settings" to be Win7?

It's unlikely unless they start bundling the M15X with Windows 7. If they do that, then it would make sense that they could change the recovery partition to Windows 7.
