A game which i can always come back to

Hello guys i am looking for a game that I can always come back to whenever i am bored! What i mean by that is whenever i am bored or got tired of another game i can always enjoy this game. It used to be Merceneries Playground of destruction followed by warcraft 3 then followed by wow. I have always enjoyed wow but im going into university and i can afford to waste more money on spending on wow monthly. So can any of you suggest a game that satisfies my expectations.

1) The game shouldn't be linear. I like more of a sandbox type of game. I also dont mind RTS, RPG or MMOs.

2) It shouldn't require additional payment after purchase.

If nobody can find the game im looking for i will probably wait for starcraft 2 to come out and buy that.

I would like to play this game at a relaxed state, i would like nothing that requires alot of focusing.

There are also two games that fits into my criteria but however i do not like them:

first 1 of them is GTA IV - I never really got into any of the GTA games, and the second 1 is mercenaries 2, this is because i heard it is a horrible console port.

I was also thinking about Assassin's creed, but after research i realized that this game is somewhat repetitive after playing for a long period of time (which is what i will be doing)

Guild Wars might be good for you. It's an MMORPG, like WoW in that regard, but there are no monthly fees - just a one-time purchase price.

Fallout 3, STALKER Games, Company of Heros, Dawn of War.

If you have to ask what games you'd like, you probably aren't a hardcore gamer.

Having said that, my favorite game of all time that I have alway gone back to no matter what new games come out, though dated and not perfect, is Ultima XI Ascension.

This game is so long that I have still never beaten it and it has made it onto 5 of my computers and as far as I've gotten it has never gotten repetitive (at least to me).
The controls are admittedly very dated but I believe there are mods out now to fix or help that and the graphics are nothing special but it isn't just unpleasant to behold.
Also I think a company has taken on the task of remaking and updating the game which tells you that enough people didn't want to forget it.

Good luck finding it in stores but eBay is always a good option for old software and you can always download it from places .

I can also agree with this. I don't like military or war games but love zombie games and I got COD just because of the zombie levels.

Sounds like you might enjoy "Mass Effect", "Fallout 3" and quite possibly "Oblivion".

Fallout 3 or Oblivion. Both have a main story line, but loads of other missions to do as well, there's always something new to find. Also, there are expansions for Fallout, three or four.
