Windows Update: IE8 Pest...

Hi,

I always like to keep windows update turned on so that my Vista is constantly updated with the latest stuff from Microsoft. One thing that I don't want updated currently is IE8. I've seen and heard a lot of bad stories about IE8 (even in the microsoft forums!). But the thing is, even if I uncheck it, that small icon at the lower right hand side of the screen still keeps showing that updates are available. Is there any way that I can permanently remove IE8 update without having to turn off windows updates?

IE8 works fine and is becoming a good contender in the browsers war.

Saying that, have you tried this?

Heyy... thanks for that qhn... although, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I tried running it from the command line (as administrator and using the /B parameter) and it says that it had completed successfully although it still shows as an important update rather than being reverted to an optional update....

That link you sent did work after all... I just tried running it as administrator and the next thing I know, it's gone!

Many thanks again for this qhn...
