Norton 360 Security/Scanning vs. ca yahoo anti-spy

how come ca yahoo anti-spy found a Trojan, but when i did a quick scan with norton, it couldn't find it?!

its kind of scary.. i paid for norton 360 too! and if i removed it with the yahoo scanner, and it does not show up anymore, does it mean that it is completely removed from my computer?

thanks!

Antivirus Apps are hit and miss, from one to the others. Sometimes one would catch a virus where the other(s) misses.

Moved to Software General.

so i think i know where i got it from... a memorial pack download from a blog site... the extension to the pack was a ".rar". never heard of the file... and couldn't open it. could this be the source of the problem?

Hard to say. Were you able to scan it first? Do not know if this would help, but Firefox (I use it) would scan the download before saving it.

Back to your OP - Is the file now gone, with yahoo scanner being removed? Have you tried a 2nd scan with the yahoo scanner?

".rar" is the extension for the archive tool Winwar: http://www.rarlab.com/

It's just like Winzip (probably better in some areas). I'd forget about Norton and CA.... and go with Avast, Avira or AVG.... they're all free and all have good reviews.
