I have a T60 and my fan has been extremely noisy and the cpu has been getting really hot lately. Opened everything up, cleaned out all of the dust, which helped, but while i had it apart it got me thinking. Disassembled the heatsink to pull the fan out and i've been wondering if i could replace the fan with a higher cfm unit.
Measured everything and it appears to be a 50mm fan with around a 7 - 10 mm thickness. only bad news is it is pretty much permanently connected to the mounting bracket instead of a nut or screw and has a very small connector (see below).

But in the interest of curiosity i ordered a couple of 50 x 10mm fans thinking that i can shave them down a bit if they are too thick. The only thing i can't seem to find is that little connector seen in the pic above. Shown with it is a standard 3-pin fan connector for size comparison. So what i am looking for is if anyone knows which kind/size of connector that is and where i can get one (link?). I would rather not cut the stock fan up just in case it doesnt all work out.
Lastly, these are 5V fans correct???
TIA
