Hi, I have an NP2096 notebook with an nVidia GeForce 9600m GT graphics processor. I have recently noticed the GPU running extremely hot. Off-load idling is almost always over 60C, and on load it can approach 85C. I've looked around the web quite a bit, and some people seem to say that the 9600m GT is just a very hot card, and that anything below 90C isn't worth worrying about. Of course, many others say that such temperatures are dangerous.
I want to find out: 1) Is this a dangerous temperature for my machine to be running at, and 2) If it is, what further steps can I do to help the cooling.
What I have tried so far:
Using bottled air to blow out the dust from the heatsink, (This helped but not a lot)
Using a Targus Chillmat to cool off my system.
I should mention that my CPU temps aren't unusually high (at least I don't think so), they idle around 40C or lower, and under heavy load might climb up into the mid-50's. The CPU is an intel core 2 duo P9500.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
