upgrades woud probably be 2 hard drives, and a new processor t9900 most likely.

actually that brings up a question
the t9900 is a 3.06 ghz processor, and theres also an intel extreme version of it ( meaning unlocked multipliers?) and its cheaper. why is that? does extreme run hotter?
also: ive heard that adding multipliers will not speed up a system as much as actually adding to the bus speed (assuming the end numbers were the same)
is this true?

Large and faster CPU runs hotter - period. I know a few that run this type of OC systems with minimum notebook casing (exposed). Might as well just get a desktop.

cheers ...

If you have the G50 you cannot RAID it.

The T9900 has a TDP of 35w the same as the CPU you have now. The Extreme is 44w. Also you cannot make use of unlocked multipliers without BIOS support.

The reason someone would say increasing fsb improves system performance more than multipliers at the same clocks is fsb increases RAM speed.

That said RAM can only be increased so much so unlocked multipliers allow higher OC. You can also OC with multipliers then OC fsb on an Extreme.

how will i know if my BIOS supports unlocked multipliers? how can i unlock bus and multiplier so i can get both higher ram and get higher ram speed (to a noticable difference) and a noticably higher speed?

is there a reason iexplore goes from say 30k to 240k over time? or is it because the memory is stored and accumlates?

sometimes when i open 2 browsers (IE) i get 2 iexplore processes and sometimes i only get one process thats iexplore?

2 Windows, 2 Tabs within one Window ...?

cheers ...

On your first question yes iexplore is stingy on giving things up. It is so certain it is so important. That said unless it causes low RAM issues might as well let it use what it wants as will be faster. If it forces other needed into page file then yea not good. Most of us with lots of RAM not an issue.

On one or two instances of iexplorer running I have no comment at this time.

The only thing I can think of is that Windows is performing an update/update-check at this time. My guess.

cheers ...
