dv7-1245dx no sound

i install service pack 2 for vista on my dads hp dv7-1245dx and now the speakers won't work but the headphone jacks work fine

Try to nail down KB888111 for High Definition Audio and see.

XP has an issue with High Definition Audio and in need of a patch. You need to install that patch (KB888111) and then re-install the audio driver.

Best bet is to get this patch from HP support site.

i tryed it but i get an error that kb888111 is for a different hardware platform the computer is a 64 bit AMD platform

If you installed SP2 via windows update, it tends to include/install the wrong audio drivers automatically especially for HP conexant cards, its quote annoying..
