Help selecting Laptop

I'm new to this forum, need your advice for selecting a laptop. My requisites are basically to view photos & videos, thought of going for PDA/ipod touch. But felt that should look for mini laptops like HP 1001TU & 1109 TU Mini because its almost all of them cost same price.
I have a IMac 24" & Macbooks are expensive, whether the windows based HP will compatible to my Mac?
Which one will be better 1001/1109? or any other similar laptops (of course with same budget).

In what way are you referring to compatibility with the Mac? Most files/software that run on Windows can be accessed by the Mac.

Dell Mini (we have a review here at NBF), Acer, Gateway LT series, MSI ... offer good mini machines.

Thank you, you didn't mention amongst these hp which one will be better. I'm from India & above models are available @ affordable price.

When people chose to buy netbooks, I usually recommend them to try second hand ultraportable notebooks from ebay which have proven to be very reliable. I do recomment IBM Thinkpad X41 (the negative for India is it dimm screen) and Dell Latitude X300 (bright screen!) or Latitutde X1 (just 1.1 kg of weight).

I bought and customised Latitude X300 for a PhD friend from India (for less than 300$ one year ago) and he is happily using it for over a year.

I can only look at the specs of these 2 models from where I am. They are pretty much the same to me other than the screen size and the larger hard drive in one. CPU and GPU are the same.

If you can link us as to where you are looking at the comps, we can be a bit more specific.

Let me clarify the requisites, I'm nature still/video photographer transfer the data to computer for viewing on site & store them for processing @ home. Check mails & so on.
