It could be anything: graphic driver settings, codecs ....

What is your comp model? OS? Are you trying watching it over an external?

cheers ...

ok, i got it to work, but now when i play files that are located on my computer, how come at first they are acting like they are buffering? they stop, then go. i thought that it should run like normal, rather than youtube, where it has to load from the server? so i just wait for the video to load, and it runs as normal.

I would almost definitely bet that you need a codec. Start off with downloading DivX and see if it works. If that does not work, download a trustworthy codec pack such as K-Lite.

Well, since there are lots of file formats, maybe sometime you will get a video that you won't be able to play because you don't have the proper codec.

Maybe you do not need it right now and there's no need for you to install any codec pack. But if you ever have problems with a video that just won't play, consider installing a codec pack.

I haven't used K-Lite codec pack, I use shark007 codec pack. It works wonders, so far it has played all my videos and it loads the subtitles.
