Venting about Dell and my laptop - Page 7

this gives me hope

i too started out with the m170, and have gone through the whole line up, with the 1730 being the worst of the bunch. seriously, 7 gpu replacements in 9 months, what is going on? i have no confidence in dell depot repairs, been there sooo many times before and i don't remember once my computer being 100% after it comes back. the rep says i cant get a replacement again because i have had too many already which makes no sense to me because it isn't my fault dell has made junk... i just need to fight i suppose, it is just so exhausting

F*ck that S*it

Get back on chat, ask to speak to another supervisor. Tell them your laptop has been at depot for over 6 weeks. This is not the type of service you expected when you purchase complete care and you want a system exchange.

I thought I put up with a lot but damn Wood, you take the punishment

I chatted in and was told my unit is in testing, and will be 3-4 days. They say 3-4 days every damned time.

yeah, i am just so exhausted with it honestly... i have gone through this so many times, i have had 4 replacements so far and i am treated like i am trying to rip them off. i just want a laptop that lasts longer than 6 months without something going horribly wrong.

oh, and btw, dells tactic is to exhaust you so you just settle for whatever they give you. it has worked on me, but im not ready to give up. i will keep bitching and crying. frustrating to feel like a criminal because my stuff keeps blowing up. i am hard on my machines, totally admit that, but that's why i got cc and next day repair, only it takes 8 frikin weeks to get a gpu replaced...

So..I still havent received my card, the 8800 that I was promised from multiple supervisors; the part is still "back ordered". Now it's been in back order for months now, and they keep telling me to call a certin date becuase that's when they're going to get them in.

Now I've called on those dates they give me, multiple times, I've been made a "high priority" (yea right) and yet they keep telling me its back ordered each time I call.

It's because they're not going to get any more 8800's in.

wtf.
srsly.

What can I do at this point? I'm not going to give up, just need some more advice, I'm tired of having to call back every few weeks just to get the same answer.

i thought of that too but i think it all comes down to doing whats right, if we let them win everytime then the next guy wont have a lick of chance. our success today is someone's future victory.

i think the reason why my replacement is moving a little faster is the order came from dell corporate coz of my BBB complaint my case went pass the resolution typical resolution team.

woodstock there is hope, for mine started with the XPS GEN2 so don't give up. it maybe time for the BBB

i think if i get no movement tomorrow, that is what i will do. if the 8800gtx is back ordered for months, whats the point in telling me it is done and shipped? seems pretty unprofessional to me

Woodstock, I don't know if this would help, but do you want me to give you my supervisor that basicly offered me the M17x?

My 1730 Died about 4 weeks ago and when I called dell, I refused to accept anything but a replacement system. My warranty expires in Jan 2010 and I did not want to get stuck with it dying again after the warranty expired.

It turns out that it's the 3rd time the system died... so at this point, I could not accept anything else but a replacement.

I received the new system today and it says
224-5967 Black Metallic, 51GX4K1

Does anyone know what this is? I could not find it on the dell site. I am afraid of opening the box and finding another 1730 inside.

I am even considering just taking the system and selling it
Thanks !

I just opened the box and it is the new Alienware M17x

From what I read above, it seems like this system is better designed than the 1730, so perhaps I will keep it.

Good luck to all of you dealing with Dell and their crap 1730's, 1710's, etc.

I think I spoke to soon... they never set up an exchange, even though he said he did. so I'm calling the BBB later today But I saved the whole session so I should get what I deserve.

And after bitching to them about not having my 8800...they're sending me an alienware.
Wow only took them 3 months to realize they are not getting anymore in.

yeah, i know that is the delay on my 1730, but the rep keeps lying to me saying it is ready... they need to give me a replacement of fix my machine, 7 weeks without my computer is retarded...
You should tell them you want those 7+ weeks added to your Warranty period. lol
