if they actually send me the alienware they promised me at top spec, im gona buy 2 more at top spec.

What you can do is you can contact them through chat, works better, because it gets routed to english people. plus a log is always sent to your email. most likely they can give you a date of whats going on or they will have someone call you back next day if you request it.

Well, I doubt they'll give you a top spec, unless the computer you have that broke was top specced. Secondly, chat is not routed to English/USA support, its just English speaking/typing foreigners...

ahh thank you for the enlightment. Well an update on my case, the person that called in refrence to my complaint, from dell corporate is refusing to give me the m17x they told me that they would get by emphasizing that they ment an xps m1730.. I told the person that the mediation was over when i had at least asked for the time on my cc contract extended ; they denied even that

What should i do now? i've been completley shafted...

justr a word for anyone wanting any xps model, don't get it if you plan on gameing hardcore like it was meant to be, get allthe bells and whistles and half of everything will fail on you.

I was afraid of that... looks like they got some more M1730s in and are now replacing m1730s with m1730s... I guess we got lucky

That on top of the fact that they will indeed refuse to extend your CC warranty if your laptop is currently in the repair/exchange process, meaning if it expires during the ordeal they'll just say tough luck.

Glad this is my last Dell laptop.

Some more Dell Fail,

I negotiated to the "upgraded" ATI crossfire cards. Turns out Dell was advertising GDDR5 cards and shipping GDDR3, benchmarks are showing worse than the 260's which are $300 dollars cheaper. Ultimate Dell Fail....

This is second hand info, I wouldn't know because my replacement for my replacement has not been shipped.

well, you definitely cant demand an upgraded computer just because yours took a shit. it is likely that you will wet the m17x anyways, but thats because the 1730 doesn't have many parts to repair it anymore... just be patient...

Ive been calling pretty often. almost every day. i just ask how things are coming and never get rude. i don't want to loose this laptop.

i call 3 or 4 times a day myself, i have been doing so for about 1 month and i am still no closer to getting my laptop replaced...
you need to expect another 1730, it will probably be refurbished with more problems than your last one had. it takes forever and if you are in a rush, buy a backup laptop. i know that sounds completely ridiculous but i ended up having to after multiple depot visits...

if dell chooses to give you an m17x, great!!! just consider yourself lucky.

dell still has 2 weeks to resolve the issue. i did finally get a hold of the hold department and was informed there is no hold on my account... so far nothing though. we will see if it moves ahead at all....

I don't know if every GPU I have had was fried, but all of the 8700's I had SUCKED. Can't even run Half Life 2 without the water lagging them up. My 6800 Ultra from my M170 ran perfect untill it overheated and died. I miss my M170

Really? My 7950GTX in my M1710 can run Half Life 2 @ max with no issues... if this thing ever dies on me they better not try to slap those sub-par cards on me.

Also, on that note, HW monitor just recorded these numbers after 1 hour of Command and Conquer 3 @ max settings, stock clocks and an hour of watching an HD show (I presume this caused the CPU temps to get up into the 60s). Should I be worried about that max GPU temp of 95 (I've never seen it get above 80 before playing at these settings, this game)? I doubt it was that high for very long as the fans were at least on medium the entire time, but still I need to know if I should go easier on the system to extend the life of the card as I really can't afford going without a computer for any length of time while I deal with Dell Hell getting a suitable replacement.

Cheers, and good luck to everyone currently in limbo! I feel your pain. Just going a week waiting for the tech to show up to replace my GPU was hard enough, I don't want to imagine a month.
