I think you good to go. i can't see dell canceling twice. so just kick back until the day it arrives. i took pics of the bow, pulling it out, opening the alienware box all the way to turning it on and customizing the colors.

it was fun for sure. an really that would awesome to borrow those. all they will do it put i think 2 hidden partitions an when you hit F10 it give options i think 3. ill do 3 which will restore it factory.

but yah i get my mail at 9am so ill have it back to you the same day. oh man i know when they had my m1730 for almost 2 months the weekends were the worst.

it wont be long bro.

2. Scope of Services:
a. Repair and Replacement Service. During the term of this Agreement and subject to the limitations
in this Agreement, we will repair or replace the Computer Device as necessary to correct any
damage to the Computer Device which occurs during the usual and customary usage of the
Computer Device because:
• An electrical surge damages the Computer Device’s internal circuitry, or
• You accidentally drop the Computer Device (in the case of Notebooks and/or Peripherals) or
the Computer Device is otherwise accidentally damaged from handling including damage to:
• The keyboard if you spill liquid.
• The LCD/monitor cracks or shatters in extreme temperatures.
If we repair your Computer Device, you understand and agree that we may replace original parts
with new or used parts from the original manufacturer, or a different one. Replacement parts will be
functionally equivalent to the original parts. In our discretion, we may designate an affiliated
company or contract with a third party to complete repairs on the Computer Device.
If we decide that it is necessary to replace the Computer Device rather than repair it, you will
receive a Computer Device equivalent to or better than the Computer Device you originally
purchased from us.

that says they can't. so i think if a person really wants one to just keep on them an they will come through. i myself had to wait right at 2 months then it was in my hand.

i will say this to anyone that has one (Alienware M17x in production). when it's in your hands you got it but don't get to excited until it is. good luck to all

How would they exactly give you a refund if you're not the original owner? Would Dell just mail you a check? Also, anyone have any experience as to the value of the refund yet? Would it be depreciated or just the original price?

they really can't but will do anything to make it easy on them an screw us.

i only paid $1000.00 for my m1730 with like almost 3 years of complete care warranty. it was damaged on august 27th 2009 an shipped back to dell on the 28th august. i got my m17x on october 26th 2009 an it's build is worth over 3k. so i came out ok.

cause they guy i bought it from only paid 2100.00 when he bought it new from dell.

well gnight every one

I bought my M1710 off eBay, but I filled out that page on the Dell website to transfer it over to my name. I'm assuming that's all you have to do to make it "your" laptop.

from the sounds of it Dell is certainly screwing some of the m1710 / m1730 laptop owners by offering the XPS16 laptop - which some for various reasons have agreed to.

it has me scratching my head
the studio 16 i have given in and accepted will retail for around 2600 bucks, the alienware would be slightly cheaper. why it makes seance to dell to not give me an alienware is completely beyond me... i am just exhausted, i cant keep messing with dell anymore so i gave up, and it wasn't like i had a choice, i fought for 3 months to get an alenware, 3 months with no laptop is a long time and the rep was not going to give me anything but the 16... i think i will try to sell the 16 and buy an alienware unless i love it?
dude if i was in school with nothing else to do than call dell all day than yeah i would be doing this all day long but i got a life and a job and there is only one of me while dell has alot of these 5 bucks a day chimps and every single time they say they have no clue what the earlier person did. XPS support used to be good but it has gone down hill since it moved to india. The other day i called for my Business laptop dude it was like talking to the 5 year old Dell the guy was on chat in less than a min. the guy trusted what i said my problem was and did not have me reboot and do stupid tests he just ordered a replacement part and i got it next day
post #351 of 362
When I said I was scratching my head, I meant it from the point of Dell taking this position and screwing so many

yeah, it is better than nothing but if i dont get the rbg 16" screen and i get the 15.6" screen instead i will be pissed off. i was told i would get as close the 17" i had before as possible, that's the rbg screen dammit

if it games a little bit and isn't annoyingly hot, i might keep it? i dont know. something lighter and smaller might be a good thing

You haven't got to actually use a 16 yet have you?

I would insert many comments here about my experiences with a demo 16 I played with, but I don't want to depress you. At least you'll have a laptop I suppose lol.
^^ yep and save the money for a good 24" lcd-hdtv to go with it.

cheers ...
oh great.... i was really hoping i might like it... i have a 24" dell display and that's what i will use the 16 with. but yeah, if it works for longer than a month without having to be repaired i will suck it up. my only other choice was the studio 17, and that is more of a pos than the 16, i hope...
I am inclining more and more nowadays with a mobile notebook (12-14") and using a 24" external when at home. The mac apple (iMac 24" at the moment) experience is taking over my thinking you see ;-)

cheers ...

That's exactly what you need to do. It's not the fastest process though.

No reason why it wouldn't. Most of the delays happen during the build process. Once that's done, it's just a case of someone delivering it to your door.

Do you have any idea where it was built, the location?
