I FEEL YOUR PAIN...

Suppose to Ship on Monday, well see. I got a call yesterday it would be six more days as they are trying to find a "match to my 1730." I think they are hoping against hope that the 8800 cards come off back order. Funny though when the GTX260/280's are just 8800's that have been die shrunk.

we should start a thread on how to deal with dell regarding stuff like this to help out others who's about to face the dell rollercoaster.

i agree.

1st M1730 with a 9800gtx 2.9 500 HD bad monitor / returned
2nd XPS 1640 fully loaded refused
3rd M1730 T8300 over heating / returned
4th M17x

what dell corporate told me is the could not find a M1730 for me
so the went ahead with the M17x.

i am so sick of fighting with dell over doing the right thing... the 17" xps line has always had gpu overheating issues. each of the machines i have had started well but in the end constant overheated gpu's required replacement laptops, and each fails sooner than the last one. my 170 lasted a year without issue, my 1710 lasted about 6 months without issue, and my 1730 lasted 28 days without issue. my 1730 is only 9 months old now and when i get it back it will have had 7 gpu replacements and i know i will need to fight like hell to get a 17x. after so many system replacements dell thinks i am doing something wrong. i am very hard on my machines because i actually use them as designed (heavy gaming for 10 plus hours several times a month sometimes) and i am punshed and made to feel i am doing something wrong...

The reviews for the M17x state that the engineering that went into the cooling is the best they have ever seen. The entire bottom of the unit and rear are pretty much vent's to pull air through. This and the die shrink to 45NM for the 260/280 may FINALLY put the heat issues to rest.

Seems like dell has finally wised up and started issuing out the correct replacement unit. We'll see if they ship them out though.

F@INT does your have an estimated ship date, and/or do you see it in your actual order status page? I have to go through the Manual order status to check mine, and it says ship date unavailable. Although if I use the old phone system it says shipping out tomorrow.

no ship date on mine and like you i go to the manual status check i will email the resolutions manager today to see if he can provide me with a ship date.

woodstock

i found this when looking for michael dell's email, i emailed him twice but i dont know if that helped my case.

If you would like to contact the CEO of Dell , his direct email address is Michael@dell.com. We've previously posted michael_dell@dell.com, and that, while it arrives at his office, does not go to him personally.

try http://www.bbb.org/ file an online complaint

one thing about the bbb they will actually have a person contacting dell regarding the issue and since dell is a member of the bbb they respond. here is the last thing said to me by the dell rep after telling me that i was getting the M17x, he said we will notify the BBB that your case had been resolved this makes me think that there are really trying to protect thier status with the bbb. hope this helps.

Honestly I think Dell just recently decided to start shipping out the M17x's. I say this because my Sup I was working with had told me it would be a tuff sell to issue this system as a repalcement and then all of a sudden the next week rolled around and I saw the unit in my dispatch notes.

I would try agian woodstock. See where if gets you.

if my m1730 sh!ts the bed one more time i will do the bb route. i believe it is the only way to get anything done anymore? it is all just so frustrating

Back door to order status: (C&P from NBR)

BACKDOOR to the old order status!

1)Call 800-283-2210 = this is the DPA phone number so don't get worried

2)Follow prompt #3

3)Now, select business/epp selection #2

4)Track order option #1

5)Then do it again - track order option #1

Those of you getting a m17x can you list your ship date? Mine supposedly ships tomorrow.
